Experience two of Thailand’s most famous markets on a smooth private day trip from Hua Hin. You’ll visit the legendary Mae Klong Railway Market (where vendors pull back their stalls just seconds before the train arrives), cruise the canals by boat, and explore the original Damnoen Saduak Floating Market – full of colour, local snacks and everyday canal life.
This tour combines driving + boat time with lively market visits and one of the most unique temple stops in the area: Wat Bang Kung, wrapped in banyan tree roots. Expect an early start and some busy areas (especially weekends) – but travelling privately makes the day much easier and more flexible.
Please note: Train timings can shift slightly due to railway operations. We plan the day around the schedule to maximise your chance of seeing the train pass through the market.
Often described as one of the world’s most unusual markets, Mae Klong Railway Market (Talad Rom Hub) is a living, working market built directly on an active railway line. More than a quick photo stop, it offers a fascinating insight into everyday local life in the Mae Klong area.
The name “Rom Hub” means “closing umbrellas”, perfectly describing what happens here several times a day. As the train slowly approaches, vendors calmly fold back awnings, umbrellas and displays in perfect synchronization, creating a narrow corridor just wide enough for the train to pass.
Seconds after the train has passed, the market returns to normal — stalls reopen, goods are rearranged and trading continues as if nothing happened. This smooth routine is what makes the experience so memorable.
Beyond the train moment, the market is full of character: noodle shops near the station, fresh seafood, tropical fruit and traditional Thai desserts made with local ingredients. Nearby Wat Ban Laem adds a cultural and spiritual touch to the visit.
For safety reasons, visitors should always follow the guide’s instructions and avoid standing close to the tracks during train arrival.
After visiting the railway market, the journey continues to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Thailand’s most famous floating market and a symbol of traditional canal-based trading.
Here, canals replace streets and longtail boats become floating shops. Vendors paddle slowly through narrow waterways, selling fresh fruit, Thai snacks, sweets and local products directly from their boats — a way of life that has existed here for generations.
Arriving by boat allows you to experience the market in the most authentic way, gliding past wooden houses, fruit plantations and colourful stalls along the canal banks. It’s a lively yet relaxed contrast to the excitement of the railway market.
Damnoen Saduak is not just about shopping, but about observing daily life on the water, taking photos from the boat and enjoying the slower rhythm of traditional Thai canal culture.
Prices are per person and based on private transport.
We’re proud to offer safe, insured and fully licensed tours trusted by families, couples and groups from all over the world.
We plan the day around the official train schedule to give you the best chance of seeing the train pass through the market. Trains normally run as planned, but timings can shift slightly. Even without the exact train moment, Mae Klong is still a very unique local market experience.
Yes. The tour includes a canal boat ride (approx. 30 minutes) through the fruit plantation area and towards Damnoen Saduak. Optional paddle boats inside the floating market can be arranged and paid locally if you wish.
Walking is easy and mostly on flat ground at the markets and at Wat Bang Kung. There are short walking sections and some steps at the temple area, but this tour is suitable for most travellers with normal mobility.
Yes, lunch is included. Vegetarian options are usually available. If you have allergies or dietary needs, please tell us in advance and we’ll do our best to arrange a suitable meal.
Yes, it’s a great family tour. Kids typically love the boat ride and the excitement at the railway market. Please note that markets can be crowded, so we recommend keeping smaller children close by.
