Alpine Golf Resort covers about 250 acres in the heart of San Kampaeng natural forests. It is without doubt one of the most beautiful golf courses in Chiang Mai designed by the world-famous golf course designer Ron M. Garl.
In planning and building the Alpine Chiang Mai golf course, the designer maintained the same standards as his other award-winning projects – TPC at Prestansia, the Palm Beach Polo Club in Florida and Alpine’s sister course in Bangkok. This 18 hole course in Chiang Mai is 7541 meters in length from the black tee box, ready to challenge even the best player, whether you choose white or blue tee.
The design is inspired by the magnificent hills on the horizon and will be a great pleasure for those who like to be close to nature. No matter where you are on the course, you will see nature at its absolute best with lush, green forests housing a great collection of trees, such as the golden teak.
The most memorable holes are hole 4 – the longest par 5 on the course and one of the longest in Thailand at 652 meters and hole 5, a 400 meter long par 4 with a well-guarded green and where a par would be a good score.
At the 7th hole, the tee box is placed near a spiritual house. A creek runs along the side and across the hole from the green and makes it one of the most challenging holes on the course. The bravest ones and those maybe praying to the spirits can try to carry over the water and go for the green in two. The score on the hole can be anything from an eagle to a triple bogey.
The 9th hole is both beautiful and difficult. After the drive to an island fairway, you must play over the water twice directly into the fresh breeze. The 11th hole, a 470 meter long par 4 (yes a par 4 hole!), is undoubtedly the most difficult on the golf course – a dogleg hole with water all the way to the hole, almost playing like a par 5.
The 15th hole is another one with an island green of almost 150 meters. Although it is only a short iron for most players, the sight of the green surrounded by water causes them to tremble. The island looks very small, but is almost 50 meters wide – pretty wide for a hole of this length.
Alpine Chiang Mai is a fantastic course complete with a wide range of other facilities, including a 4-star resort and international restaurant all in the spectacular setting of the hills of Chiang Mai.
