A perennial favorite in Phuket, Loch Palm Golf Club, established in 1993, boasts a stunning setting nestled in a basin surrounded by lush mountains and jungle.

While it may be more straightforward compared to some of its prestigious counterparts, this course offers ample challenges to golfers of all skill levels, primarily due to the presence of the loch.

The key objective is to keep your ball dry and steer clear of water hazards. Negotiating the front nine requires strategic play, as the loch and its tributaries frequently come into play, posing a threat to even the most accurate drives. Palm trees, scattered but not densely packed, also contribute to the challenge, giving the course its name. Notably, the 4th hole, a long par three over water to a semi-island green, stands out among the front 9 challenges.

The most memorable holes emerge towards the end of the course. The 14th presents a short par-3 with an elevated tee shot to an island green, testing players to select the right club. The 16th, another par-3, poses a risk of water hazards to the right, while a sloping two-tier green adds complexity.

While the overall course condition is excellent despite heavy traffic, there’s a minor concern about inconsistent greens, with some being relaid and playing faster. The caddies, however, prove invaluable with their guidance.

To avoid crowds, midweek play is recommended, and the recently renovated clubhouse offers excellent facilities, including changing rooms, a pro-shop, and a restaurant. The unique driving range allows golfers to hit floating balls over a lake.
