Mandatory Buggy: No
Introduction: A challenging course with an excellent layout close to Petchburi. The new Jack Nicklaus’ 9 hole championship course (Mountain Course) was opened in March 2008. Each hole is “Risk & Reward”, but the course is fantastic and is perhaps the best 9 holes in the Hua Hin/Cha Am area.
Kaeng Krachan Country Club & Golf Resort is located in Petchaburi by Thailand’s largest national park. 14000 hectares of land is located on the eastern peninsula in the Petchburi Province, 1.5 hours from Hua Hin. The course is surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, such as mountains, forests and lakes. Kaeng Krachan Country Club has been open since 1994. The first 18 holes (Lake and Valley) were designed by Cherd Bunyaratavej; a famous Thai golf architect.
Kaeng Krachan is a hilly course, requiring straight drives from the tee to avoid losing balls among the many trees and bamboo forests. The fairways are beautiful but greens can be difficult even if they do not always look like it. Natural lakes come into play on six holes. Overall, this course is a test for golfers of all levels.
The new Jack Nicklaus’ 9 hole championship course (Mountain Course) was opened in March 2008. Each hole is “Risk & Reward”, but the course is fantastic and is perhaps the best 9 holes in the Hua Hin/Cha Am area.
Interestingly, four of the holes dogleg to the left, which is contrary to Nicklaus’ previous designs, where he seemed to favor holes doglegging to the right. Mountain Course is a must-play golf course, built to international standards.
27 extra holes are in the works within the next couple of years, with 18 of them designed by Greg Norman.
Kaeng Krachan is 54 kilometers from Hua Hin and is unfortunately used very little – especially in the low season.
